Questions to focus on: Why no understanding?

These questions can be used at different levels. You can take 30 seconds to think about one or two. You can discuss them in a team or group of like-minded Christians. Or they can be used in a college class, including assignments and research projects, and answered in writing at any depth. They may be freely reproduced for this purpose. Please email us additional questions that could be added to this page.

  1. How does the common expectation that ‘the Web is free’ impact support for web evangelism ministries?
  2. How does the fact that many senior Christian leaders probably don’t yet really understand the Web, affect the relative lack of support for Christian web evangelism ministries?
  3. Is there a perception among the Christian public that:
    1. evangelism done from the home end is not ‘real missionary work’
    2. web evangelism should be done in people’s spare time
    3. anyway, why should we pay Christians to surf the Internet all day?
How can these views be countered?
  4. Is it still true that Web Evangelism is barely on the radar screen in the minds of the general Christian public? Is it ever featured in Christian print magazines or email newsletters?
  5. If this is the case, what strategies can we use to give Web Evangelism a higher profile? How can you personally be an advocate for the medium?
