WEB EVANGELISM CONFERENCE VIDEOS NOW ONLINE

Seven of the web evangelism seminars from September's Web Ministry conference are now available to watch online:
http://www.webevangelism.com/index.php?id=100

Maybe the holiday period is a good chance to take time to view some? They were recorded with an innovative system which also displays the PowerPoint or screen content, so you see exactly what the session participants saw. Nearly as good as being there!

These highly recommended sessions cover topics:

* Reaching Your Community Through A Church Website - how to make a church site reach outsiders
* Evangelism in Second Life - the new virtual world
* The Power of Personal Testimony - important principles
* The Edges of Cyberspace - the potential of the Web to reach the 'second billion' - mainly non-western internet users who will come online in the next few years
* Evangelism and Mentoring - lessons learned by TruthMedia.com
* Rethinking Internet Evangelism And Online Ministry - looking back and forward
* Hollywood Jesus - outreach based on redemptive parallels in film

There are also audio recordings of some other conference sessions:

To set these in context, here are details of speakers and sessions:

We urge you to blog about these videos, and link directly to individual seminars appropriate to your website. 'The Edges of Cyberspace' is a must-watch presentation for all in the missions community. 'Reach Your Community' is essential for any church with a website, or planning one.

2008 conference is scheduled for 20-23 October in Grand Rapids, USA.

EVANGELISM IN FACEBOOK

Evangelism is all about two-way relationships. Facebook is all about two-way relationships. Notice any overlap here?

Marketing Sherpa have produced a tutorial How to Market Yourself & Your Company on Facebook - 11 Steps & Strategies which will be only available until 3 Jan. Although it applies to promoting a company through Facebook, many of the principles are transferable: http://www.marketingsherpa.com/article.php?ident=30182

See also their tutorial (up to 3 Jan only) on adding Web 2.0 features to your site: http://www.marketingsherpa.com/article.php?ident=30198

VIDEO CLIP ADVANCE

"MSN has just released the beta version of its new video site called Soapbox," writes SitePoint. "The interesting part about this is that you can create a list of videos inside Windows Live Messenger to share with your friends while chatting.

"This will provide a huge boost in the speed with which viral videos are disseminated, and should play an important part in getting Soapbox used by video makers everywhere - whether it's the kid next door dancing to music, or Lonelygirl15:
http://video.msn.com/video.aspx?mkt=en-us&tab=soapbox

"Here are 5 places to upload your video for maximum exposure:
1. YouTube
2. Google Video
3. MSN Video
4. Vimeo
5. Revver

"They're all free! You don't host the bandwidth. And they all
have 'Tell A Friend' functionality."

THREE CORNERSTONES OF AN EFFECTIVE SITE

Regardless of what your website is designed to do, there are a few primary objectives you should keep in mind before you start building:

DRAMA SCRIPTS

We have a range of scripts which were written to challenge Christians about the need for evangelism. The first two are specifically about web evangelism. Are you a drama writer? Would you like to write a script that challenges people on the potential of online evangelism? (We'll give a book to writers of any scripts we publish!)
